Construction of Bluecoat Academy’s new 420 place, 2 FE primary school, 26 place nursery and specialist unit for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

Works included the relocation of pupils into temporary accommodation, demolition of existing buildings and construction of 15 classrooms and associated spaces using Lungfish’s Connect model to a limited project budget and accelerated build programme.

Special Considerations

Mindful of the sensitive nature of SEN pupils and to help ease them into their new environment, we hosted a Golden Bolt ceremony (marking the completion of the School’s steel structure) and a Preview Tour where pupils and their teachers were invited to paint the first brush strokes in their new school.
