Managing Director, Wates Construction

Steff joined Wates in 1995 and is Managing Director, responsible for the Construction business units within Wates Construction Group.

Steff is a major advocate of collaboration with delivery partners and stakeholders to create the optimum balance between value, cost and programme. He has been instrumental in creating a culture where agreeing and embedding positive behaviours at the start of the project becomes standard practice to provide it with the best possible chance of success.

Most recently, Steff held the position of Head of Pre-Construction for Wates Construction Group. His bold leadership and entrepreneurial style saw a cultural shift in this area for Wates, enabling significant growth and a shift to a more customer focused, value enhancing offering for our customers.

He was also responsible for establishing Wates’s cost-planning function, which has now grown into a 20-strong team and has played a huge part in ensuring a more efficient and certain approach to early stage project planning and evaluation for customers.

He is passionate about the environment and has been a key player in driving a more sustainable approach to construction at Wates.
