Wates Residential North, which is currently developing 217 new homes for Rotherham City Council, has appointed local estate agent William H Brown to begin the process of selling 98 soon-to-be completed properties in Maltby.
Work began on the project in December, with all homes expected to be fully complete in Summer 2020. The appointed agent has already received a steady stream of enquiries from local residents regarding the homes – a mixture of three bedroom semi-detached, three bedroom detached, four bedroom detached properties and 15 shared ownership apartments.
The homes are likely to be available from in the region of £155,000 with Help to Buy an option on all properties. The first home is expected to be fully completed by September, with interested parties able to visit a show home from July.
The work at Braithwell Road in Maltby forms parts of Rotherham Council’s £29m plan to revamp the borough’s housing offer – offering quality properties that meet the needs of local residents. Phase one of the construction programme also includes development at Conway Crescent and Farnworth Road, East Herringthorpe and Gaitskill Close.
Phase two in Dinnington will commence later this year, with phase three in Canklow already having started on site. Completion is expected for all 217 homes in 2020.
Throughout the development work, Wates has committed to deliver a range of training and employment opportunities for local people. Wates has engaged local suppliers and subcontractors to ensure that the council’s investment provides a boost for the local economy.
Richard Shroll, Managing Director, Wates Residential North, said:
“Rotherham Council’s plan to boost the area’s housing stock is great news for local people looking to get a foot on the property ladder.
It’s very rewarding for our team to work with the council in bringing their plans to fruition, and fantastic to see the first properties hitting the market.”
Carly Evans, Branch Manager, William H Brown, commented:
“What Rotherham Council and Wates Residential are delivering for the town is excellent, and the level of interest we’ve already seen demonstrates how highly these new properties are anticipated.
We look forward to helping families across the local area find their new home in these tremendous new properties in the months to come.”
Councillor Dominic Beck, Rotherham Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, said:
“This is a really exciting project for us and will help us to follow up on our commitment to provide high quality, affordable and fit for purpose homes for people in Rotherham.
We also hope that the development will draw new people into the borough too. The level of interest we’ve already had on this development is a positive sign and we’re looking forward to working with William H Brown to get families into these new homes and building a new life in the borough.”
