Wates Residential appoints new Southern Development Director | Wates

Wates Residential has hired Kate Ives as Development Director for its London and South region. The appointment comes as Wates expands its presence in the residential development market.

With effect from January 2017, Kate will be responsible for growing Wates’ investment in new developments across London and the South, building on its portfolio of partnership housing and joint ventures.

Kate joins Wates from First Base, where she held the position of business director, working on major regeneration schemes in and around London. These included mixed-use developments in Brighton and the London boroughs of Southwark and Merton.

Kate is a graduate of Queensland University of Technology and holds a BA in the built environment and graduate diplomas in property and town planning.

In October, Wates announced plans to expand its housing investment and sales-led development.

Wates’ current partnership development portfolio across the UK includes Erith Park regeneration programme in Bexley in partnership with Orbit; the City of Cardiff Council’s Housing Partnership Programme to create 1,500 new homes and Rotherham Council’s 200-home site cluster development.

Paul Nicholls, Regional Managing Director of Wates Residential, commented:

“Kate is joining the business at a very exciting time as we grow our blended portfolio of development and contracting projects. Her role will be crucial in ensuring that we grow our development activities sustainably while continuing to provide our clients with the high standard of delivery to which they have become accustomed.”

Kate Ives, Development Director, Wates Residential, said:

“Capital investment in new housing is a huge opportunity for Wates Residential and provides an innovative means to addressing the crucial need for high quality new homes in and around London. I am very much looking forward to growing our partnership housing initiatives and developing strategic collaborations within the industry that will help to build upon Wates Residential’s extensive place-making expertise.”
