The new, £19.2m Signature Bushey development will include 95 apartments across four storeys, comprising 71 studios and one bedroom private apartments, plus 24 studios in a specialist dementia suite.
The development, to be named Elton House, will also feature a cinema, two restaurants, a spa, a hairdressers and a therapy room.
Designed by PRP Architects, the new care home is due to be handed over by Wates to Signature in Summer 2018.
The project is the second senior living development Wates will deliver on Signature’s behalf in Hertfordshire following the contractor’s completion of Bentley’s House in Hertford in 2015.
Wates has also recently completed Ascot Grange, the Signature Care Home in Berkshire, and Pembroke House, the Signature Camberley Care Home in Surrey.
Ian Vickers, Managing Director of Wates Construction Home Counties, commented:
“A topping out ceremony represents an exciting milestone, and signals that a scheme is well on its way to completion.
The experience we’ve accrued on projects in Ascot, Camberley and Hertford has proved invaluable on this latest development. The smooth progress of Signature Bushey is also a testament to the excellent working relationship we’ve developed with Signature over recent years.
We look forward to another year of close collaboration as we bring this key addition to Hertfordshire’s senior living sector to completion”
Wayne Pryce, Group Director of Development and Construction, Signature Senior Lifestyle, said:
“The topping out of Elton House, Bushey gave everyone working on Signature’s fourteenth home time to reflect on how far the project has come.
The Wates team have done a fabulous job and with their help we look forward to welcoming our first resident into their new home and providing the best care in an amazing environment.”
