Introduce yourself for us
I am the SHE Advisor for Smartspace FM
How long have you been in your current role?
2 and a half years.
What brought you to Wates?
It was a reputable family organisation that was built on safety and integrity. As a working mother, I was able to have flexibility within my role.
What advice would you give to women entering the industry?
My advice would be not to let your gender determine your future. You have been gifted with the responsibility to pave the way for future young women to succeed, to lead and feel empowered about the change that they can bring to our industry. Don’t be afraid to stand out – not because you are a woman but because you are great at what you do.
Who are your role models?
My older sister Samantha, because she has inspired me to challenge and believe in myself and has taught me how to be resilient and determined in everything I do. As a result, she makes me feel like I can achieve anything.
The singer Pink as she has integrity and stays true to her beliefs and she is a great ambassador for women and uses her status for good.
Tell us something unusual about you
I have a horse called Schnapps, I am an PADI Advanced Open Water Scuba diver, I am currently learning Flamenco dance.
What changes would you like to see in 100 years time?
As many women working in our industry as men and as many girls at school being inspired to going into historical male dominated roles. I would hope for an industry, at all levels, where men and women are treated with respect and dignity.
