New ways of working - our response to COVID-19 | Wates

Site and project teams across the Wates Group are working hard to ensure that site operating procedures are followed, so that we continue to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of our teams.

Since the 48 hour lockdown the majority of our sites are now up and running and our teams that have returned to site, like all of us, have had to adjust to the new ways of working.

The health and safety of everyone involved in what we do has always been our number one priority and with support from our industry, the Government has developed new site operating procedures to allow work to continue safely and in a way that observes social distancing guidelines.

Everyone onsite is responsible for ensuring that they adhere to the social distancing guidelines and apply the 2m social distancing rule at all times. It is difficult to change what has been normal behaviour for decades, but the can-do attitude and commitment displayed by our site teams has been overwhelming.

Strict management controls have been put in place at all entrances and exits, and walkways are clearly signposted and marked.

Welfare areas have been 'split', additional canteen and drying room areas have been created to minimise crowding on site.

The site requires 48 hours notice for any visitors or colleagues who haven't been to site for a couple of weeks.

Here are a few examples of how Wates sites up and down the country are applying the 2m social distancing rule:
