Sarah Seabright - Proposals Manager, Wates Construction

Introduce yourself for us

I’m Sarah Seabright, Proposals Manager for Construction North West bid team.

How long have you been in your current role?

My current role is Proposals Manager which I have been in for 3 years. I celebrated 10 years with Wates this year having started life at Wates as a Desktop Publisher.

What brought you to Wates?

My friend Alison Austin recommended me to the business as the bid team were looking to improve their documentation; I came in for an interview as I am a Graphic Designer by trade and I was offered the role of Desktop Publisher.

What advice would you give to women entering the industry?

Be open to the roles within the industry – I would never have looked for a graphics role within Construction.

Who are your role models?

My friend Alison Austin, she worked for Wates for 18 years and was very passionate about what she did, she never gave up on anything!

Sadly Alison passed away in December 2018, she has left a lasting legacy with us all. Her memory encourages me to keep being the best you can be in the time we have. An Amazing Lady!

Alison is most definitely part of the #100for100.

Tell us something unusual about you

I used to film weddings for a living, on one occasion I had to work alongside OK magazine who were doing the photography on a celebrity wedding – It was a very stressful long day!

What changes would you like to see in 100 years time?

More awareness of the skills that could be transferred in to roles within Wates. Which would also benefit the company!
