employability
Unemployment is a key issue affecting many of the communities in which we work. Wates is committed to boosting skills to raise employability in communities of most need.
- We invest in employability solutions to support sustainable communities and can provide bespoke solutions to meet the needs of our customers and the communities they serve.
- Our pioneering Building Futures programme helps adults who face barriers to employment find work. We have delivered over 25 Building Futures programmes nationally, helping over 300 people. 20% of those who complete are from BME / Women Backgrounds and 10% are ex-offenders. Over 50% go into employment, education or training.
- Wates supports over 40 apprentices per year through our 'setting out' programme.
- We have developed Construction Skills Academies in a number of areas.
- We invest over £1million annually in Building Futures and Apprenticeships. Click here to find out about Wates' approiuch to Boosting Skills and Employability.
- Through our role on the BITC’s Business Action on Economic Renewal Leadership Team, we developed a toolkit for employability workshops where social housing providers and businesses could explore how they can work together to improve outcomes for local communities.
- We are committed to exploring ways in which we can support social enterprises on all our projects.
