Primark RedditchPrimark Redditch was a challenging project for the Retail team which consisted of taking a three storey retail unit within a shopping mall and converting it into a Primark store. The works involved the removal of the floor slabs to the 1st and 2nd floors to enable the construction of a goods lift and forming the atrium for the escalator. The works to the ground included an office suite and staff accommodation, locker rooms and canteen.

The Site Manager on the project said “What the team achieved in a short scale of time was impressive; there was a lot of structural work to be completed, the biggest compliment was on handover when the customer  commented on the very high standard of finish”.

The part of the ground floor which became ultimately the sales floor encorporated new shopfronts to both the mall and high street entrances. A complete shopfit of the
33,000 sq ft area also included new changing rooms, a bank of 13 tills and a customer returns area. The floor was completely covered in Amtico flooring and the ceilings of
the ground floor were constructed of metal framework and plasterboard to form a raft above all tiled walkways. The remainder of the ceilings were constructed out of a SAS
system. The 1st floor works consisted of new shopfronts to the mall, the remainder became a fallow area for storage. Across the whole project a full air conditioning
system was installed. Despite the many challenges the project was completed on time and on budget.
