Uckfield, Sussex
An exemplar project in which Wates worked with a landowner to get consent on a highly contentious greenfield site. This 17 acre site is now being developed in partnership with Linden Homes.
The key elements of this project are:
- A difficult greenfield site which was successfully negotiated through planning and included fighting off two High Court challenges.
- Despite many competitors, this site is the only one with successful, detailed planning consent.
- The site was promoted through the local plan and was allocated through a non statutory local plan.
- The landowner was delighted to gain consent for 230 2, 3 and 4 bedroom units including 68 affordable units.
- The homes are code level 3 sustainable homes which have been sensitively designed to fit in with the character of the surrounding Sussex area.
