- Maintaining the integrity of the building, the Wates Team created additional revenue generating space through close collaboration between site and design team at the early stage of the project.
- Delivered programme certainty by recruiting, managing and driving expert supply chain partners to tackle complex restoration issues
- Underneath a new lead roof, housing one of the most advanced acoustic canopies in the UK, the renovated organ makes a suitable and impressive centrepiece to the Grand Hall.
- Ensured community engagement with press days, time lapse photography and by opening the building to the public for the first time in ten years on Wates Community Day. This proactively supported the Birmingham Council’s objective of engaging the local community.
- Invented, designed and constructed a bespoke “Rolling Roof” for materials access to protect the building and ensure minimal impact and disruption to neighbours and the local community.
- Improved the long term usability and commercial viability of the building, through developing a very strong working relationship with Symphony Hall, the user of the building, to deliver against their broad range of operational needs and requirements.
