Stivichall Primary School, Coventry
Perfect timing: Smart logistics at new school project
This project demonstrates our wealth of experience of working in live educational environments. Not only did we develop a logistics plan that ensured complete segregation of construction, we also delivered the new building four weeks early, allowing us to demolish the old building in the six-week summer holiday.
- The new building is on target to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. Environmentally sustainable, it includes a sedum roof on lower levels, timber cladding on upper levels and a passive vent system throughout.
- Since we were also on site at another location nearby, we were able to transfer the topsoil from this site to our Stivichall school site and then send the crushed demolition material from our Stivichall site back on the return journey to our original site to use as a 6ft capping layer – a great example of added value, saving Coventry City Council approximately £50,000.
- For the duration of the project, we maintained continual dialogue with the head teacher, caretaker and local residents, ensuring understanding and smooth operation throughout.
