The show goes on: Theatre refurbishment demonstrates excellence
This project involved careful restoration of an impressive Victorian building which had been left vacant for some time. The satisfying result is a stunning, dynamic theatre with a capacity for 3,200, making it one of the largest seaside performance spaces in the North of England.
- Specialised redecoration and restoration of the original 19th century features and interiors, plus extensive technical work including acoustics, lighting and AV installations.
- Adjacent bar, function and office areas were demolished and rebuilt, creating a bright and welcoming modern environment.
- A complex job, which required precise planning using our own scheduling software. When problems with the fabric of the building led to many revisions, we shared the software with the project manager, facilitating an open, partnered approach that helped address and resolve the issues. As a result, the client was able to plan a number of high-profile opening events with confidence that the works would be complete, thus maximizing revenue streams.
- Our ‘innovative and effective project management’ was highlighted in an outgoing consultant’s report, which also cited our over-achievement against industry standards and benchmarks, and corporate objectives, concluding that we had ‘demonstrated areas of excellence vital for future projects of a similar nature’.
