Somerset House, East Wing - Live Site

Wates started works at Somerset House in September 2010.  The project will involve the refurbishment and reconstruction of the East Wing of the Grade 1 listed building which will eventually be used primarily for education purposes.

Project works will include:

  • Demolition of the wall, reinstating of sash windows
  • Re-stabilisation of existing ceilings
  • Repairing and replacing original fireplaces
  • Reinstalling roof lights
  • Replacement of bottles and parapet stonework to the roof
  • Installing 3 number lifts & bridge
  • Doff cleaning existing external stonework

Benefits

  • Our team hold weekly meetings with the client and design time to ensure all involved are aware of ongoing works and are satisfied with progress.
  • All works are compliant with English Heritage guidelines
  • Reducing carbon footprint by placing weekly orders for site consumable instead of just when we need them.
  • All contractors are using public transport as there is no parking onsite.
  • 100% of all waste is recycled through a Wates preferred contractor.
  • All disruption is minimised when the Courtyard is in use for external purposes.
