Sheffield Homes
- Programme reduction of 17% in terms of time in property – from six weeks to four, by working closely with our supply chain to eliminate periods when little activity was taking place and ensure a more efficient working pattern.
- To aid strong communication, we have employed and trained local multi-lingual staff in areas where there has been a high percentage of non-English speaking residents.
- Over the 2 year period we have been working at Sheffield, we have achieved the highest KPI scores for quality, service and tenant satisfaction among the framework contractors.
- We have run ‘Day in the Life of a Wates Employee’ for tenant board members to understand how a Decent Homes programme works and to find out what happens behind the scenes.
- Worked with Sheffield Homes Investment Team to understand post handover defects which has reduced numbers to a minimum.
- Reduced administration costs and improved performance by developing and introducing the SAM (Survey Automated Management) System which gives access to real time information and is compatible with Sheffield Homes internal information records.
- Taken on 10 apprentices from the local area and all have now reached NVQ level 3. Two apprentices have since been taken on Wates Management Development programme and become Production Trainees.
- Held a Building Futures programme to help ten long-term local unemployed people, giving confidence and skills to find employment.
Engaged strongly with local community projects:
- Worked with Construction Skills to organise an annual ‘Build It’ event for 9 to 11 year olds to learn about the planning and construction of projects.
- As part of our annual Community Day, we worked to help a local boxing gym relocate to new facilities. Took part in a Dragons Den styled event which resulted in providing much needed support for the Busy Kids Fun Group who help underprivileged families.
- This approach led to our team being selected as Best Site Team by Sheffield Homes in their annual Celebrating Excellence in Decent Homes awards.
