Above all, it's about people

Shackleford, Surrey

A rural 17.5 acre site to the South of Guildford which is currently a undesirable derelict mushroom farm considered a bad neighbour for the village as it is a non-conforming use of the land.

Key elements of this project are:

  • A prime rural location with the opportunity to provide high calibre residential homes which will complement the existing area
  • Wates Developments has been working with the local community for 26 months to provide a great design proposal, which includes proposals for 18 new family homes (7 affordable), 2.5 acres of open space and a reduction in bulk from 120,000 existing sq footage to a proposed circa of 36,000 sq feet.
  • We have been working closely with the community and Local Authorities to achieve a successful planning consent, which is especially difficult as the site is within the Surrey Hills and Green Belt.
  • Wates Developments is seeking to demonstrate the wide range of benefits possible for the community from developing this site with sympathetic and sensitive design.
  • The team is heavily engage in public consultation on the scheme, which will be a substantial improvement on the current unsightly buildings blighting the community.
