Above all, it's about people

People's History Museum

This project consisted of the refurbishment of the existing Grade II listed Pump House Museum, and the creation of a spectacular new build, four storey extension. The Pump House was restored to show off its stunning architecture and is the only surviving Edwardian hydraulic pumping station in the city of Manchester.

Features include:

  • Biggest corten clad structure in Manchester
  • Integration of contemporary structure with a Grade II listed building
  • State of the art archive storage and facilities for maintaining and repairing artefacts of significant historical importance.

This project further strengthens our reputation in refurbishment of high profile projects in the North West. The new museum explores the world changing events led by the working people of Britain and has become a new major attraction in Manchester.
