Mecca Bingo, Aberdeen
This project was a major refurbishment of an existing Mecca bingo in a live trading environment. This club is one of the groups highest financial earners in the country, seating approx 1,900 customers. The project was the first of the new-style Mecca Bingo halls designed to attract the younger generation. It comprised of mainly night working to introduce a new stage area with radius ceiling features, dividing the lounge and traditional bingo areas into two. Wates installed glazed new doors and radius partitions to separate the two themes and bespoke joinery with 26 metres of pre-manufactured ceiling features. All new carpets were laid throughout and we installed new vinyl walkways as well as fully decorating of the club. We refurbished two of the public bars and the self-serve restaurant including all new furniture. We also upgraded the lighting throughout and installed external signage. All perimeter walls were re-done, introducing hardwood picture rails and LCD monitors with new CCTV. Wates were also responsible for the amendment of various sprinklers and air conditioning to suit the proposed new scheme. The project was completed on time and on budget with zero accidents.
