John Lewis at Westfield Stratford City
Wates Retail are proud to be the main contractor for the new John Lewis store at Westfield Stratford City, the gateway to the Olympic Park. The development sits alongside the new Olympic stadium as well as the Olympic Village.
This store is the anchor for this brand new 1.9m sq ft development, the largest urban shopping centre in Europe. With around 7 million customers expected to visit the 300+ units during the Olympics and many more in the years to follow, it is a focal point for retailers and the public alike.
This 41 week project spans 220,000 sq ft over four floors with a combined cooling heat and power (CCHP) plant to produce single source energy.
Wates Retail are working in partnership with John Lewis to achieve their environmental targets for 2011 including diverting 99% of waste from landfill, using 100% of timber from certified sustainable resources and to achieve a BREEAM rating of ‘Outstanding’.
