A flagship store for John Lewis, Wates converted the basement to create a foodhall and modernised the existing store. A major refurbishment of a high profile store.
- Only the second foodhall John Lewis has introduced, after trialing at their flagship London store
- Conversion of a bulk storage area in the basement into a new foodhall, alongside a new sales floor area for large electrical appliances and fitted kitchens.
- Opened the ground floor slab to install two new customer escalators to access the basement
- Relocated the bulk storage area into an existing fallow area
- Installed two new customer lifts to access the foodhall
- Phased modernising of the ground floor, first floor and second floor selling areas, including raised access flooring and concept fitting rooms for the ladies department, installing beauty rooms and modernising lighting.
- Introduced a new store entrance which is currently the display window, which involved the demolition and removal of the existing curtain walling system and the introduction of a new ground floor slab.
