


Ironmonger Row Baths - Live Project
Wates have recently commenced 1st phase works on the Grade II listed Ironmonger Row Baths, based in the heart of London’s Old Street.
The works include an extensive refurbishment of the listed leisure centre, which is comprised of a 1931 section and a later extension circa 1938. The team on site have mostly come straight from the recently completed Kentish Town Baths project so can offer expertise on this type of Grade II listed refurbishment.
The project works will include:
- Restoration of the main pool and installation of a new teaching pool with moveable floor
- Creation of a new, larger gym with over 70 exercise stations
- Provision of two new exercise studios.
- Installation of a new, separate changing rooms
- Restoration and refurbishment of the historic Turkish Baths with an expanded spa area
- Restoration of the seating gallery and other key historical features of the building
- Improvement of accessibility and usability throughout, including a central lift for all floors
- Creation of a park-facing entrance and brighter, atrium foyer area
- Provision of a public laundry.
