Gambado – Milton Keynes

Wates transformed a large motorbike showroom and workshop into a safe and lively space for Gambado’s new children’s activity / play centre concept. Milton Keynes was the second Gambado built by Wates, Beckenham being the first one.
Key elements of this project were:
- Delivered on time
- Improvements to programme or specification using experience of first project?
- The complete strip out of existing building, demolition of large section of mezzanine floor, and other structural alterations. A new staircase was installed.
- Fit out of new unit to incorporate play equipment, fairground rides, cafe, toilets, arts & crafts area, TV / internet lounge etc.
- Work to the existing envelope included forming of new openings for windows / fire escapes, louvres.
- New glazed entrance lobby and entrance canopy. Decoration of external columns, panels, exposed structural steel.
- Hard landscaping included renovation and alteration of block paving. New link to site from existing cycle path.
- The soft landscaping involved the general renovation and improvement of the existing area.
