Excellent Homes for Life, Kirklees
Wates Living Space has been appointed as preferred bidder for this housing PFI scheme in West Yorkshire.
As part of the Regenter Excellent Homes for Life consortium, we will build 360 one and two bedroom flats for social rent on 31 sites across the borough. We have also been tasked with providing 140 Extra Care flats for the elderly at a further three sites.
The award demonstrates our proven track record in delivering PFI housing schemes. This latest scheme will feature the following:
- A specialist unit for people with dementia.
- 10% of the General Needs units we will deliver will be specially adapted homes for people in wheelchairs.
- Occupants of all the homes will find that they are living in homes built to the Government’s Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 – the first PFI of its kind in the country to delivery homes to such a level.
- The code measures a home’s sustainability against nine categories including water, materials and carbon emissions. For level 4, the level of CO2 efficiency we have to achieve on each home is a 44% improvement on current building regulations.
