CGNU East Kilbride
This project included many different stages. Firstly, the demolition of the existing walkway canopy at the front of the unit. This was connected to neighbouring walkways of other units and so procedures were implemented to protect the public from our works. Recladding of the front of the unit took place after forming and installing new doorways and a store entrance, was installed with new framework steels. There was also the installation of paved walkways, with new retaining walls, and steps to suit ground levels.
Secondly, there was the installation of new mezzanine floor and four staircases as well as the construction of two lift shafts and an escalator pit. Due to ground conditions extensive groundworks had to be undertaken.
Third came the construction of a steel framed two-storey extension with canopy to rear of unit, to match surrounding units. Extensive groundworks for foundations, drainage and new service ducts took place along with the formation of ramp and pit for scissor lift. This concluded with repair works to the road and service yard after the connection of drains and services.
Finally, fire boarding was applied to the underside of the mezzanine floor and all stairways and the internal floor was made good after all drainage works were completed and the whole floor screeded.
