Canklow, Rotherham
Canklow was the first project to be undertaken as part of the “In Business for Yorkshire” framework and comprised 71 houses (28 for shared ownership and 45 for rent). The homes were constructed using timber frame and cladded with a mix of brickwork and render.
The scheme was the initial stepping stone in the redevelopment of Rotherham and provided employment for the local supply chain and apprenticeship places for local residents.
- Footpath and road closure issues which could affect project programming were identified early and addressed saving 13 weeks on the programme and reducing the overall build time
- The development was delivered in phased manor allowing the client to receive dwellings on average 10 weeks early
- The development was delivered to Eco Homes “very good” standard utilising timber frame construction, high levels of insulation and utilising solar thermal technologies.
- The development also met all required Scheme Development Standards and Secured by Design criteria
- The development was also recently awarded a Building For Life Silver Standard award.
