Basingstoke Malls - Live project
Wates began the refurbishment of Basingstoke Malls in August 2010. The £5.9million project will see the outdated shopping centre given a major facelift making it a much more attractive place to shop in Basingstoke.
The main feature of the project is its new clear roof canopy which utilises the same technology used for the Eden Project domes. Existing roof canopies are being removed for the installation of a new EFTE canopy, providing better protection from the bad weather, more natural light and allowing air to circulate.
Other works will include a new landmark gateway entrance; new shop fronts and paving and landscaping improvements, all of which will give a fantastic first impression of the town to its visitors.
From the offset Wates have the challenge of working in a live environment and this will remain for the duration of the project, including the busy Christmas retail period with all shops trading business as usual.
Our site team have a dedicated office open to all members of the public - residents, shoppers and tenants to answer any queries relating to the works and will provide regular updates informing of any disruptive works that will be taking place. Liaising closely with Basingstoke and Deane Council, their webpage is also available with scheme plans and updates - www.basingstoke.gov.uk/go/themalls.
