Andy Wates; Managing Director

Andy is fourth generation owner of Wates Group. He is passionate about delivering the right project, safely and within budget with a focus on customer relationships.

Andy is also a board member of the Construction Youth Trust; a growing charity which is committed to encouraging young people into the industry.

Before joining Wates, he spent six years gaining experience of the construction industry with Costain Construction as a site engineer and then with John Shreeves & Partners as a quantity surveyor.   He began his career at Wates as a property surveyor before joining Wates Group in 1995.   

Jamie Williams; Commercial Director

Jamie has been with Wates Group for over 20 years, firstly in Wates Construction as a Project Surveyor in 1988 and then Regional Surveyor in 1996. He became Commercial Director in 2004 and is responsible for the commercial teams in the Interiors’ businesses.

Doug Wotherspoon; Director

Doug’s construction career began at Kier as a graduate, before joining Wates in 1996 as a project surveyor. He was then promoted to Commercial Manager in 2000 before his post as National Operations Manager, where he was responsible for setting up and delivering a nationwide delivery platform.

Working with his fellow directors, Doug supports each project 100%, ensuring its smooth delivery to quality, on time and on budget, safely.

Steven Smith; Operations Director

Steve Smith joins Wates from ISIS Projects and brings with him more than 30 years' experience in the construction and fit out industry. He has worked for market leaders such as NICO and StructureTone, a company which he helped set up and grow into a £240m business.
