Tim Wates Chairman

Tim started his career at Cazenove & Co, prior to joining the Wates Group.  During his career in Wates, his main focus has been on finance and housing - he presently sits on the Group Board and he is Chairman of the Wates Family Council (the Family Shareholder forum).  He is Chairman of the Wates Pension Fund, and a Trustee of the Wates Family Enterprise Trust and the William Wates Memorial Trust.

Tim is a school Governor, a non-executive Director of Pedder Properties and Tampopo Ltd., a Director of the Clink Charity, and Vice Chairman of the Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership.  He has an MBA from the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge.

David Brocklebank Managing Director

David joined Wates in 1995 working in the land team during the early years of his career in development.  Following a break with the company to expand his experience with volume homebuilders David Wilson and Berkeley, he returned to the House building arm of Wates in 2001.  As Operations Director David was a principal figure in Wates’ strategic refocus from house building to land management, planning and investment in Joint Ventures. 

He was appointed as Managing Director of Wates Developments at the beginning of 2005. David holds a Masters Degree in Land Management and is a Chartered Surveyor.

John Jarrett Financial Director

John Jarrett joined Wates in October 2007 following a 28 year career at Taylor Woodrow and is a qualified certified accountant. During his time at Taylor Woodrow he undertook a number of roles including assistant to Chief Executive (during which time the business acquired Bryant Homes), Business Development Manager for the commercial property business and Financial Director for a number of group companies culminating in the London region of Bryant Homes (£200m per annum housing business). In his role as FD of Wates Developments John brings with him a wealth of financial knowledge and expertise for the next stages in the growth of the Developments business.

Martin Leach Operations Director

Martin joined Wates Developments in September 2013 following a 16 year career at Countryside Properties.

During his time at Countryside Properties, Martin was Land Director with responsibility for a wide range of projects.  His experience includes green and brown field planning promotion and applications, mixed use and mixed tenure projects, with a strong focus upon value creation and maximising development opportunity.

Previous to his time in development, Martin worked for Merrill Lynch, where he gained strong financial acumen.

Martin holds a Degree in Estate Management and is a Chartered Surveyor.

Meryl Baker Senior Land and Planning Manager

Meryl joined Wates Developments in 2005 when she graduated from Kingston-upon-Thames University with Honours in Real Estate Management. She has had various property and development roles with companies such as Cemex and BNP Paribas Real Estate UK. Meryl is responsible for a number of house builder joint ventures and delivering planning consents on a number of key projects. She also manages the land portfolio which spans over 100 years of development activity, controlling Wates residual land and legal interests.

Simon Knight Senior Land and Planning Manager

Simon has worked in the development sector for over 20 years with Wimpey, Rialto and Blue Circle before joining Wates in 2000. He is responsible for the acquisition of land and delivery of planning consents across a range of projects. 
He is a highly experienced member of the team with recognised strengths in the project management of large sites and Joint Ventures.
