Andrew Modle Finance Manager

Andrew joined Wates Developments in 2013 as Finance Manager.  He started his career with a six partner West End practice having achieved a BA (Hons) Finance & Accounting and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant.  Andrew moved into the homebuilding sector in 1993, where he spent nine years working for Taylor Woodrow with both Taywood & Bryant Homes, holding a variety of roles, including the financial management of two large regions with turnover of £180m. 

Following six years at Gleeson Homes Southern as Finance Director, where he was responsible for developing a new regional Finance team, Andrew held positions as Interim Commercial Finance Director at A2Dominion and Interim Head of Finance at Devonshire House Schools Group.  Directly prior to joining the Wates Developments team, Andrew managed the finances for Joint Ventures at the Barratt and David Wilson regions in Guildford and Hungerford. 

Tim Wates Chairman

Outside Wates, Tim is involved as a Trustee of various charities and holds several non-executive roles. He is Chairman of the Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership and a UKTI Business Ambassador.

Tim commenced his career at Cazenove and Co in the City prior to joining Wates Group. At Wates he leads on housing for the family and Chairs Wates Developments. He is also a Director of Wates Group and Chairs the Family Council.

David Brocklebank Managing Director

David Brocklebank is a Chartered Surveyor and holds the position of Managing Director of Wates Developments Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of the Wates Group) having joined the company in 2001 and having been in the post since 2005. 

David has over twenty years’ experience in the development sector, having previously held Directorships within the Berkeley Group and David Wilson Homes. David was a principal figure in Wates’ key 2005 strategic transformation from Regional House builder to London and South East land investor and planning specialist, that secures land and planning consent, creating joint ventures with mainstream homebuilders to fund new development schemes.

David is a prominent figure in the development industry with a keen interest in the evolution of planning policy and housing supply.  He sits on the board of a number of development project companies as partner to PLC homebuilders such as Barratt and Linden. This offers significant influence and insight into development operations and the housing market within the UK.

David sits on the Research Committee for the Princes Foundation for Building Community – Financial Capital. In addition, David sits on the Advisory Committee of the MSC in sustainable development, Oxford University.  In his role within Wates, he also sits on the Group Risk and Developments Investment Committees.

John Jarrett Financial Director

John Jarrett joined Wates in October 2007 following a 28 year career at Taylor Woodrow and is a qualified certified accountant. During his time at Taylor Woodrow he undertook a number of roles including assistant to Chief Executive (during which time the business acquired Bryant Homes), Business Development Manager for the commercial property business and Financial Director for a number of group companies culminating in the London region of Bryant Homes (£200m per annum housing business). In his role as FD of Wates Developments John brings with him a wealth of financial knowledge and expertise for the next stages in the growth of the Developments business.

Martin Leach Operations Director

Martin joined Wates Developments in September 2013 following a 16 year career at Countryside Properties.

During his time at Countryside Properties, Martin was Land Director with responsibility for a wide range of projects.  His experience includes green and brown field planning promotion and applications, mixed use and mixed tenure projects, with a strong focus upon value creation and maximising development opportunity.

Previous to his time in development, Martin worked for Merrill Lynch, where he gained strong financial acumen.

Martin holds a Degree in Estate Management and is a Chartered Surveyor.

Meryl Baker Senior Land and Planning Manager

Meryl holds over 10 years of experience in successfully managing land, securing planning consents and delivering key house builder joint ventures across southern England.  She holds a BSc Hons in Real Estate Management and held various property and development roles in companies such as Cemex and BNP Paribas Real Estate UK.  Meryl brings commercial insight and leadership to the project team in order to ensure the delivery of planning consents and key business targets are bought to fruition.
