Reduce Carbon
Our carbon programme is designed to reduce our carbon footprint while delivering innovative carbon solutions to our customers.
Our target is to achieve a 10% year on year reduction in our carbon emissions from fleet and energy consumption and assess the carbon footprint of all the buildings we deliver.
Our homes and workplaces account for about 50% of the UK’s energy consumption and the resulting greenhouse gases that cause global warming. You can assess your own impact by calculating your carbon foot print at http://actonco2.direct.gov.uk/index.html
We are committed to reducing our own carbon footprint. We have already achieved a 10% reduction in CO2 emissions from our head office. Our next challenge is to address business travel within the Group and achieve a 10% year on year reduction in CO2 emissions by [2009}.
By 2016, government legislation will require us to deliver zero-carbon buildings. Before then a European directive will require most buildings to display an energy certificate.
We will, assess the carbon footprint of every building we deliver and provide customers with information on the sustainability of their development. This will help the building’s owner/ operator bring down its environmental rating, cut CO2 emissions and reduce operational costs.
