Estimator

Purpose:

  • To provide tender costs on a limited value or complexity for construction projects for Regional Directors Adjudication ensuring a competitive net bid.

Position Typically Reports To:

Project Estimator/Estimating Manager

Key Accountabilities and Deliverables:

  • Co-ordination of tender bid & pre-contract activities.
  • Preparation of sound and competitive net estimate.
  • Handover and presentation of tender bid to construction team.

Key Tasks:

  1. Check and acknowledge tender documents and amendments.
  2. Enter details on RIMS.
  3. Abstract information into subcontract and material packages.
  4. Select subcontract and material companies from Unison.
  5. Organise copy of tender documents and amendments for appropriate parties.
  6. Arrange pricing document production – internal or external – if required.
  7. Enter pricing document onto ISEC.
  8. Rate up pricing document.
  9. Answering queries from subcontractors/suppliers.
  10. Arrange site visit.
  11. Requesting further information from Client/Design Team and arrange meeting if required.
  12. Enter sub-contractor/supplier quotations into ISEC.
  13. Liase with Planner re: Methodology.
  14. Price up Prelims.
  15. Compile provisional ‘Green Sheet’.
  16. Finalise ‘Green Sheet’ prior to Adjudication Meeting.
  17. Attend Adjudication Meeting and present a nett tender.
  18. Complete Form of Tender and tender letter with any qualifications.
  19. Complete Contract Sum Analysis/Schedule if necessary.
  20. Ensure final ‘Green Sheet’ is fully distributed.
  21. Enter final tender information on RIMS.
  22. Prepare information packages for handover to construction team, if successful.
  23. Attend handover meeting and brief team on tender bid.
  24. Attend Design Team Meetings, if D & B.
  25. Undertake project debrief, eliciting feedback from sites, to improve construction.
  26. Input supply chain performance data on Unison.
  27. Identify scope for value engineering / value creation
  28. Identification of tender risk
  29. Implement SHE policy
