8 March, 2010
The Wates Group has been presented with the “Giving Something Back” award as part of the 2010 Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For index which was announced yesterday.
The accolade was presented to Wates in recognition of its ability to combine corporate charitable giving with staff activity and involvement. The ‘Giving Something Back’ award was also one of only six special awards presented to celebrate those companies whose exceptional leadership makes a difference to employees and the environment.
Paul Drechsler, Wates’ Chairman and Chief Executive, said: “I am delighted that Wates has received this award in recognition of our community work and charitable giving. Our people pride themselves on always delivering a service that goes beyond building buildings, which is at the heart of the Wates family’s and the Group’s values. I am also extremely proud that we have achieved a listing in the 2010 Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For index which reflects the views of our people”
The 2010 Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For index was published on March 7. This is the first time that the Wates Group has been in this prestigious listing which recognises highly engaged workplaces and is compiled from surveying employees in 960 companies across the UK.
