19 July, 2011

Five members of Wates Retail based in Warrington ran 10k on 17th July at Leigh Sports Village to raise funds for Barnardo’s, Wates new charity partner. This event kicked off the start of ‘Go Green Week’ for Wates, a week full of special events and fundraising to launch the new partnership with the children’s charity.

The five members of the team (Debbie Gildart, Nabeelah Salihi, Graeme Jones, Peter Doran and John Goode) ran the 10k ‘Legacy’ event at Leigh Sports Village on Sunday 17th July at 10am, with times ranging from 41 to 55 minutes. Friends and family of the team also signed up to raise funds.

The team are aiming to raise £2,000 in total from the event and so far have collected more than £900. Wates Giving, Wates charitable foundation, have also agreed to give £500 for the team’s efforts.

All donations are appreciated – this can be done via http://www.justgiving.com/wateswarrington2011 or donations up to £10 can also be made via text by sending BARN91 to 70070 followed by the amount you wish to donate. For names to show on donations made by text they must add gift aid by replying to the text sent (there is no extra cost for this).
