Wates reinforces commitment to Supply Chain

Wates Living Space has held an awards initiative for its principal UK suppliers in recognition of the tireless efforts taken to help it provide housing clients with best value during times of economic turbulence.

In an effort to overcome the pressures created by the public purse, Wates has been focused on working in close partnership with its main suppliers and subcontractors to ensure early cost certainty on projects, whilst maintaining standards of innovation and quality.

This ‘closer to fewer’ strategy has enabled Wates to create value and engineering cost efficiencies by taking best practice lessons from project to project. It forms part of Wates’ commitment to delivering 100% of projects on time on budget every time.

The inaugural Supply Chain Awards took the form of a charity dinner at the Motorcycle Museum in Coventry and saw eight companies rewarded for their collaboration with Wates Living Space over the past year.

Over 45 companies attended the awards ceremony, which raised over £3,500 for Wates’ nominated charity, Shelter.

Dave Oates, Supply Chain Director for Wates Living Space, commented: “The awards initiative was largely motivated by our desire to further integrate our suppliers into Wates and for them to see themselves as an extension of our business. We want our whole supply chain to see how appreciative we are of the commitment provided to us and the effort taken to go that extra mile for our clients.

“We hope the recognition offered to the winners will serve to increase their market appeal and empower them to maintain their competitive position.”
