WATES OFFERS OPPORTUNITIES TO NORTH EAST COMPANIES
2 June, 2011
Contractors in the North East are being invited to be part of a major regional supply chain and work on a variety of housing projects in the North East.
Wates Living Space is holding a series of Meet the Buyer interviews over one day in Durham in order to offer smaller local contractors the opportunity to join its supply chain and be part of new build and refurbished housing projects and planned maintenance works.
Wates Living Space is already actively operating in the region, working with East Durham Homes on the delivery of its Decent Homes programme to invest in the city’s council homes. In Newcastle, Wates is partnering with Your Homes Newcastle on the £36m regeneration of Cruddas Park in the west end and on the £2m redevelopment of Bolam Coyne in Byker.
The Meet the Buyer interviews taking place on July 27th will enable local suppliers to engage with Wates as the main contractor for a range of future projects and assess the scope of opportunity available. A number of trades will be required, for example those specialising in joinery, brickwork, tiling, painting, plastering and landscaping.
Attendance is by appointment only so interested contractors are asked to email virtuosa [dot] consulting
ymail [dot] com to obtain an application form. Forms must be completed and returned by 24 June 2011 in order to secure a potential interview.
Joanne Jamieson, Business Unit Director for Wates Living Space commented: “It has always been our aim to utilise our presence in the North East to truly benefit local trades and the local workforce. We are therefore holding this event to build more links with businesses in the region and ingratiate them into our supply chain. This will allow us to identify strengths in the market and deliver quality homes for North East tenants.”
Wates Living Space is one of the UK’s largest affordable housing contractors. Working with social providers, Wates builds or redevelops over 30,000 homes every year.
