
Wates Living Space Secures £400m Framework Contract

Affordable housing contractor, Wates Living Space, has been appointed onto Housing 21’s £250 million framework and a £150 million framework for Hanover Housing Association.
Both of the framework agreements start immediately and cover a four-year period. They will deliver predominantly new build extra care, retirement and older people’s accommodation in England.
David Stanley, Supported Living Business Director for Wates Living Space, said: “We are delighted to have secured a position on both of these national frameworks. We will work collaboratively, be creative and drive for sustainable efficiency, as well as keeping a keen focus on residents’ needs. We will also support local communities and charities through schemes such as Building Futures, which offers local people apprenticeships and training opportunities.”
David O’Neill, Head of New Business and Sales for Housing 21, said: “Housing 21 is looking forward to working with Wates Living Space. We have an extensive programme of new development and their experience and expertise will no doubt be very valuable.”
Perry Scott, Head of Procurement at Hanover Housing Association said: "This Design and Build framework will support the Hanover build programme of four to six Extra Care Schemes per annum and 1,000 Retirement Housing units.
“We were keen to work with national contractors with the flexibility and ability to deal with the volume, timescales and sustainability measures in our agenda. Hanover Housing Association looks forward to benefiting from Wates’ experience in the sector, as well as the added benefits that they will bring to the framework over the next four years. "
Wates has vast experience in delivering supported living accommodation. The company is currently delivering six new build and remodel projects which will provide 440 units of extra care housing and care homes nationally for public sector customers, with a value in excess of £50 million.
