Wates Living Space’s Steve Trusler to join CIH Governing Board

Steve Trusler, Strategy Director at Wates Living Space, has been selected to join the new Governing Board of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) due to take office  following member approval in January 2012.

 With over 30 years’ experience in affordable housing, Steve is a passionate supporter of continuous improvement and innovation within the industry, and is committed to ensuring that issues of supply and affordability remain high on the national political agenda. In his role as Strategy Director at Wates Living Space, the affordable homes division of the Wates Group, Steve has played an instrumental role in growing the business into one of the UK’s leading contractors in the sector. Wates Living Space helped to deliver or refurbish over 30,000 homes in 2010.

 Steve commented:

“The supply and delivery of affordable housing remains at the top of the national consciousness and we at Wates Living Space are working hard with our partners to find solutions to deliver some of the additional 150,000 high quality affordable homes which the Government has committed to supplying by 2015. Through membership of the CIH’s Governing Board I look forward to contributing my expertise and experience to help set the strategic direction of the CIH. Collectively, we will continue to serve the best interests of the industry by promoting the work of the sector and representing members’ views to government.”

The new, 11-member CIH Governing Board is expected to replace the existing 32-strong CIH Council and is subject to approval by CIH members at a general meeting to be held in January. The new Board will play a key role in helping set the strategic direction for CIH and ensure the professional body continues to provide excellent support for its members and the wider housing community.
