Wates appointed on £16.4million new homes scheme
6 July, 2010
Bromsgrove District Housing trust (BDHT) and West Mercia Housing Association have appointed Wates Living Space to deliver 158 new affordable homes in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.
The timber houses and apartments will be built on a Greenfield site near Perryfields Road and include an equal mixture of rented and shared ownership homes. They will be funded jointly by BDHT and West Mercia, supported by a grant from the Homes and Communities Agency and Bromsgrove District Council.
Wates Living Space has just started on site with the first homes due for completion in March 2011. Wates Living Space will also deliver new jobs for local people as well as offering a number of training initiatives during the build programme.
Phil Sperring, Business Unit Director for Wates Living Space, said: “We are delighted to be working with BDHT and West Mercia Housing not just to deliver much needed affordable new housing within Bromsgrove but to deliver wider community benefits, invest in local community projects and provide local training and employment opportunities.”
Mike Brown, Chief Executive of BDHT, added “Wates has been the number one performer on the Spectrum Framework for housing delivery across the district. We’re looking forward to another development, which will make a real difference to local people in these tough times.”
