Living Space selected for HCA Delivery Partner Panel
Wates Living Space is one of the few companies to be selected by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) to operate over all of its three regional clusters as a member of the newly established Delivery Partner Panel. The announcement was made today (8.1.10) following a highly competitive tender process to establish frameworks across the northern, central and southern regions which will help deliver affordable housing on public sector land throughout England.
Steve Trusler, Strategy Director of Wates Living Space, said: “Wates is absolutely delighted to be one of the few contractors chosen by the HCA for all three regional delivery panels after under going such a rigorous selection process. We are convinced that the Public Land Initiative will be one of the most important schemes to drive the delivery of new affordable housing over the next few years. We are looking forward to playing a full and active role within this innovative programme.
“As a business, we have been keenly promoting the concept of the public and private sector working closer together to use public sector land more intelligently. This approach will effectively deliver not just housing but help regenerate local communities, boost local economies and create local employment opportunities.
“The HCA said they were encouraging organisations to come forward with different skills and a more flexible approach - we believe that this is exactly what Wates can offer. We are looking forward to working with the HCA to increase the delivery of much needed new affordable homes in these challenging market conditions.”
Eamonn Boylan, Director of New Ventures and Partnerships & Deputy Chief Executive at the Homes and Communities Agency said ” The Delivery Partner Panel will speed up development on publicly-owned land and make it possible for more homes to be delivered where they are in demand. We have worked with Wates in the past and look forward to more partnership working for the benefit of communities around the country."
