Tim Wates 
Chairman
Tim commenced his career at Cazenove and Co in the City of London. He joined Wates Developments in 1990 and in 1996 was appointed Finance Director of Elmore Plant Services. Subsequent to the sale of this business in 1999 he became MD of Wates Estate Agencies, followed by appointment as MD of Wates Developments in 2004. In 2006 he was appointed Chairman
of Wates Developments and to the Wates Group Board.
Tim has an MBA from the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge.
David Brocklebank
Managing Director
David joined Wates in 1995 working in the land team during the early years of his career in development. Following a break with the company to expand his experience with volume homebuilders David Wilson and Berkeley, he returned to the House building arm of Wates in 2001. As Operations Director David was a principal figure in Wates’ strategic refocus from house building to land management, planning and investment in Joint Ventures.
He was appointed as Managing Director of Wates Developments at the beginning of 2005. David holds a Masters Degree in Land Management and is a
Chartered Surveyor.
Simon Knight
Senior Land and Planning Manager
Simon has worked in the development sector for over 20 years with Wimpey, Rialto and Blue Circle before joining Wates in 2000. He is responsible for the acquisition of land and delivery of planning consents across a range of projects.
He is a highly experienced member of the team with recognised strengths in the project management of large sites and Joint Ventures.
John Tarvit
Senior Land and Planning Manager
John joined Wates Developments from a successful background of 20 years experience in planning, land and property matters gained at Charles Church, House Builders’ Federation and Redrow Homes.
He is a Chartered Town Planner and as such is responsible for the management of a wide range of existing development projects, both in long term strategic land and short term applications. John advises on all planning matters for the Company, whilst being highly active in Wates’ pursuit of
new land.
David Law
Senior Development Manager
David joined Wates in 2003 having previously worked for Laing, Berkeley and Bellway over a career in development spanning 18 years. As a Senior Development Manager David has secured the delivery of a range of residential and mixed use schemes and has spearheaded Wates’ investment in new Joint Ventures with house builders Linden and Barratt. Prior to this role David operated as a Technical Manager and his background strengthens the Wates team with this essential expertise.
Meryl Evans
Land and Planning Manager
Meryl joined Wates Developments in 2005 when she graduated from Kingston-upon-Thames University with Honours in Real Estate Management. She has had various property and development experience and is working towards becoming a Chartered Surveyor with the RICS. Following a recent promotion Meryl is responsible for a range of projects from new brownfield site acquisitions to greenfield strategic planning promotions. She also manages the land portfolio that spans over 100 years of development activity, controlling Wates’ residual land and legal interests
in sites.
