Wates Giving is a charitable programme run and funded by the Wates Family Enterprise Trust, which was set up by the Wates Family owners with the aim of strengthening the role business has to play in society, focused on making a real difference to the communities in which we live, work and build.
Since 2008, Wates Giving has invested over £8m in local initiatives through five themes: Education; Employment and Training; Social Enterprise; Sustainability; and Community Building. Wates Giving also seeks to develop thinking and debate around major social and economic issues through its annual Thought Leadership research project.
Through Wates Giving, the Wates Family owners also back the causes that our people support with their own time and resources. Funding assists and promotes employee volunteering, match funding to boost personal giving through fundraising and Give As You Earn through regular salary deductions.
Wates Giving has boosted the almost £300,000 raised for charities by Wates employee fundraising activities with an additional £100,000. In addition, Wates Giving makes donations each year to the community organisations and groups supported during our annual Community Week. Wates Giving also sponsors our people and their families that compete in sport at the highest level. In 2014 we were proud to have three of our scholarship holders compete at the Commonwealth Games.
